The Muzhappilangad beach in Kannur is Kerala’s only drive-in beach. One of the top offbeat places to put in the list if you are visiting North Malabar, this beach has a rare charm. A yearly beach festival celebrated in the month of April is the greatest temptation. You can see people performing driving stunts like drifting and wheeling.


This beach is the longest Drive-In Beach in India and is featured among the top 6 best beaches for driving in the world in BBC article for Autos. Even though Goa has many beautiful beaches, it does not have a Drive-in beach.
Probably among the best drive-in-beaches of the world, lengthy stretch of 4 kilometers can be driven without any fear of getting stuck in the sand. And the good news is, it is rightly legal to drive along the beach.

Muzhappilangad beach has black rocks strewn on the sands protecting the shore from the deep currents. It is basically a swimmer’s paradise as the shallow waters are protected from the sea currents. Go for swim, sunbathe, or simply relax. Try out adventure sports like paragliding, parasailing, and another tethered flying. Jet-ski, boating or catamaran ride are also available in season.
The 7 kms long beach attracts a fair amount of visitors, mostly those who want to enjoy a fine ride through the sandy shore line in their car or on a motor bike. The beach is almost empty during weekdays.
